Video Conferences and Remote Interpreting
Using New Communication Technology
Video-conference
Conference at which the interpreters, speakers and some delegates may not all be in the same place.
There is a video and audio link between the sites.
Remote interpreting
Exceptional arrangement where the interpreters work at some distance and do not have a direct view of the meeting room or the speaker.
To provide quality service the interpreters need to:
- hear perfectly everything that is said,
- see the speakers and projection screen clearly,
- see the delegates so they know the message has been understood.
Usually interpreters work in built-in or mobile booths located in the conference room.
Remote interpreting may deprive the interpreters of the input that proximity to the meeting provides.
In all events check that what you're planning is feasible with your Calliope consultant interpreter. He will provide sound advice.
For further information consult the Data Sheet on video conferencing and remote interpretation.
